When should we request a fertility consultation?
Consider evaluation after 12 months of trying when the female partner is under 35, or after 6 months when 35 or older. Seek earlier advice for irregular periods, a known reproductive condition, prior cancer treatment, surgery or a semen concern.
Does a first appointment mean we must start IVF?
No. A consultation reviews both partners where relevant, identifies useful tests and discusses reasonable options. IVF is only one possible pathway.
